02: Where Does Money Come From?

Steve and Ava Coughran Season 1 Episode 2

Hey kids, have you ever stopped to wonder where money comes from? You’ve probably seen cash before—you know that paper stuff or those coins that we use to buy things, or maybe you’ve watched your parents swipe their credit card to pay for dinner, that shirt you’re wearing, or to fill up their car with gas. Money is all around us but sometimes we don’t stop to think where it actually comes from. In fact, it's a question that many of us have probably never thought about. We use it every day, but we rarely think about how it came into existence. So, where does this money actually come from? Join Steve and Ava Coughran for this episode where we will answer questions like: Does money grow on trees? How is money made? Who controls the money supply? And why can't we just print more money and give it to everyone so there is no such thing as poverty?
